Chandel Tourism

Chandel is a town in Manipur’s Chandel district. It’s a component of the Chandel neighbourhood. It is located in the state of Manipur’s Outer Manipur. This settlement is closer to Moreh. Chandel, commonly known as Lamka, is a small yet beautiful district in Manipur’s north-eastern state. Chandel is recognised for its various types of orchids, several ornamental plants, and some extremely valuable medicinal herbs, in addition to being home to a huge variety of plant and animal species.

Attractions
Yangoupokpi - Lokchao Wildlife Sanctuary: Established in 1989, this wildlife sanctuary spreads over 185 sq km. It is a beautiful paradise where you get a chance to spot numerous species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, etc. It is counted among the nine identified Important Bird Areas (IBAs) in the state. Bird watchers flock here from all over the country to spot some endangered species of birds like Green Peafowl.

Tengnoupal: Tengnoupal, 20 kms from Chandel, proudly houses numerous tourist attractions. From here you can relish remarkable bird's eye view of the complete Manipur valley. Its serene ambience and cool winds are enough to make you fall in love with it. People visit here to rest amidst lush and deep valleys. This is a perfect place to fall in love with the nature around.

Moreh: Edging the border of India and Myanmar, Moreh is a commercial town in Manipur. It is frequented by many tourists and businessmen every year. It is a popular place for shopping lovers as Chinese and Thai goods are available here at reasonable prices.

Best Time to Visit
Winter season from October to May is the best season for a visit to Chandel. Summer is also a good time to plan a visit to Chandel for enjoying pleasant sightseeing experience.

By Air: The nearest airport to Chandel is in Imphal, the capital of Manipur.
By Rail: Dimapur railway station is the nearest railway station for Chandel as the town doesn’t have its own railway station.
By Road: Frequent bus services ply to and fro the town of Chandel.
